Slinkies et al.

Once again, I have been reminded today that some people are like Slinkies; not very useful, but a whole lot of fun to push down stairs.

To be fair, I probably ought to give some background since this is the first post here. I'm 22, have 2 undergrad degrees from ASU (by the way...the whole dual degree thing...I don't recommend it), work in outpatient mental health, and possess a singular view of reality (which may or may not be...skewed. If you couldn't tell from the Slinky comment, that is.) Free time consists of computer / console games, snowboarding, rock climbing, and cooking while generally being a social isolate. (People irritate me.)

But hey, I never claimed to be sane, did I?

Anyway, back to the Slinky comment. So, I'm enjoying my day off by sleeping in...
(Yay for getting MLK day off. <3 state scheduled jobs.) and I get a phone call at 9:45. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, since I wake up before 7 most days and can't sleep past 9 anymore for some odd reason. But not today. Oh no...today I'm happily in dreamland when I'm jarred awake by the abhorrent sound of my phone ringing at max volume to the ringtone I have set for any work-related number. So I scramble over the detritus strewn about the floor (hey...it's a 3 day weekend, don't judge a little bit of mess =p) and dash to the phone thinking "oh wtf is going on now. /grumblegrumble" HIPAA regulations keep me from saying much more, but: it was
a) work related
b) inane
c) not even something that terribly concerned me
d) had just enough of the "wtflol?" factor to amuse yet annoy me.

So, I'm reminded that some people are like Slinkies, and am left wondering what happened to natural selection.
